School Orchestra Trip to Beijing

The school orchestra was invited by EDB to join a trip to Beijing from 11–15 November. A total of 12 Hong Kong schools (120 students) participated. The itinerary was as follows:

Day 1 Visit 大鐘寺古鐘博物館
Day 2 Visit the Chinese Academy of Music 中國音樂學院 for a lecture
Day 3 Visit the Central Academy of Music Secondary School 中央音樂學院附屬中學 with lesson observation. Our students also performed a clarinet quartet and in the evening they gave a wind band performance
Day 4 Visit the National Palace Museum 故宮 and王府井 then in the evening attend the Beijing Opera 京劇
Day 5 Visit 四合院 and 798藝術區.

Since our students had to perform in front of other schools, they had benefited a lot from the trip, especially in self-confidence. Also, students from the Chinese Orchestra of 中央音樂學院附屬中學 gave a high-standard performance which certainly stimulated our students to strive for excellence in performing arts as well as academic study. By observing music education and culture in the mainland, our students broadened their musical knowledge, especially in Chinese musical culture. The performances and presentations by other Hong Kong schools also enhanced our students understanding of the musical culture of other schools. It was a unique and valuable experience for our boys.
